Synopsis: Jill Gardner—owner of Coffee, Books, and More—has somehow been talked into sponsoring a 5k race along the beautiful California coast. The race is a fundraiser for the local preservation society—but not everyone is feeling so charitable…
The day of the race, everyone hits the ground running…until a local business owner stumbles over a very stationary body. The deceased is the vicious wife of the husband-and-wife team hired to promote the event—and the husband turns to Jill for help in clearing his name. But did he do it? Jill will have to be very careful because this killer is ready to put her out of the running…forever!
Review: Once again, Jill finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation, over the objections of her police officer boyfriend, Greg. Thanks to the murder, she and Greg are forced to cancel their Alaskan cruise plans, so she decides to spend the time renovating her guest room and investigating several suspects.
Jill is a very logical, likable character, even though she tends to act without thinking way too often. In this book, her relationship with Greg is irritating to me. He claims to be angry with her, but it comes across as just words, as they never discuss it or do anything to work it out. Jill's Aunt Jackie is by far my favorite character, and I love that she got a larger role this time around. She is SO much fun!
I was a little surprised by the way the mystery played out, and the entire story is very entertaining. The author perfectly captures the feel of a small town, and the closeness of the residents. Every town should have a place like Coffee, Books, and More!

Thanks for having me over. I adore writing Aunt Jackie. :)
I think it's funny how many times, the reader is more attracted to a sub-character. It's happened to me a few times too. :)
