The Ellie Claire Art Journal Blog Campaign: Illuminate Your Story, The Illustrated Word, Faith & Lettering

I had the opportunity to review three Ellie Claire Art Journals. They each have a different focus and can be used in different manners.

The Illustrated Word: An Illuminated Bible Coloring Journal

ISBN: 9781945470196
Trim Size: 7.00in x 9.00in
Page Count: 160
Format: Hardcover

Create your own masterpiece with this journal that has forty glorious illustrations from ancient manuscripts that have been recreated as line drawings. Just as medieval monks brought Scripture to life through intricate inked illustrations in handwritten manuscripts hundreds of years ago, you can now create your own stunning keepsake that will be treasured for years to come.
My Thoughts
This is my favorite of the three books in this bundle. I like the colorful illustrations as well as the coloring pages. The Bible verses included are good ones for memorization. I am using the journaling pages for my weekly verses, as you can see in the picture above. I am excited about coloring the full-page drawings throughout the book as well. The pages are thick enough that even thick markers do not bleed through so you can color in any way you choose.

Illuminate Your Story Journal
ISBN: 9781945470684
Trim Size: 6 x 8
Page Count: 160
Format: Cloth-Spine Deluxe Journal
Description: Learn to create your own beautiful illuminated letters with this how-to journal.
Use the almost-lost art of illuminating letters to enhance your writing, Bible journaling, or sermon note-taking. Rich illustrated manuscripts in the Museum of the Bible’s collection inspired these gorgeous letters. Easy to follow instructions, practice pages, and encouragements guide you through the creation of amazing start letters, flourishes, and more.

My Thoughts
I love the idea of learning to illuminate letters, but I don't have the level
of creativity for actually accomplishing it. Each lined journaling page
has a Bible verse or inspirational quote at the top. I feel this would make
a good gift for a preteen/teen girl, and have a few ideas for recipients.
The journal also has an elastic band to hold it closed, a pen loop on the
side, and a keepsake folder attached to the back cover.

                                  FAITH & LETTERING JOURNAL

Description: New from professional letterer Krystal Whitten! With guides,
instructions, and tutorials, this is a fun and inspiring way to create beauty
with words. It is the perfect place for journalers to practice Bible journaling,
lettering quotes and verses, or decorating a page with original thoughts
and plans. Exploring your God-given creativity has never been so rewarding.
My thoughts: This journal offers full verses to practice, as seen above, as well as
several different alphabets. It also includes full colored illustrations/quotes andpages for actual journaling. It has a pen loop on the spine as well.

Into the Deep: Diving Into a Life of Courageous Faith by Lauren Gaskill

Genre: ChristianChristian living, women's issues, spiritual growth, religion and spirituality
Paperback: 240 pages

  • Publisher: Abingdon Press (November 6, 2018)
  • Language: English
  • ISBN-10: 1501869744
  • ISBN-13: 978-1501869747

Develop enduring faith for the turbulent waters of life.

Following Jesus doesn’t guarantee sunny skies and smooth sailing. In fact, the waters of life are often tumultuous, crashing over us. Sometimes we can feel that we’re drowning in a sea of confusion, division, frustration, complacency, or disillusionment. We need more than a shallow faith to survive these deep waters.

Into the Deep is an invitation to dive headfirst into a life of courageous faith. With endearing warmth and authenticity, Lauren Gaskill shares how she and others have learned to swim with Jesus in the deep waters of life—facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, and chronic illness—only to discover a more authentic, enduring faith that cannot be shaken by circumstances. In addition to examining the character of God and the lives of women and men of the Bible who chose to dive deeper with God, she provides practical examples and tools that help us take our faith to the next level by learning to make decisions by faith alone, control our reactions to overwhelming situations, and live a life rooted in love.

Get ready to exchange fear and frustration for the boldness, courage, and holy confidence that lead to a life of deep faith and joy!

Review: This is a fabulously well-written book that you can read on your own or use as a group study. If you want to know how to discover a deeper, more authentic faith in God, this is the book for you. The author uses stories from her own life, as well as the lives of men and women in the Bible to show how deep, courageous unshakable faith is possible. I highly recommend this to everyone!

BLOG TOUR AND GIVEAWAY: Another Kind Of Magic (Caitlyn #3) by Elizabeth Davies @rararesources @bethsbooks

Another-Kind-of-MagicBOOK INFORMATION
GENRE: Historical fantasy
  • Series: Caitlyn (Book 3)
  • Paperback: 338 pages
  • Publisher: CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform (October 26, 2018)
  • Language: English
  • ISBN-10: 1726390586
  • IBN-13: S978-1726390583

I am a cat. But I am no ordinary cat. I am a witch’s familiar. I am also a woman, with a woman’s heart and a woman’s frailty.”
Nearly two hundred years have passed since Caitlyn was trapped by supernatural forces and black magic, and she has known many mistresses. This time, the witch she is enthralled to is Joan, wife of Llewelyn, Prince of Wales.
At first, this mistress appears no different to any of the others Caitlyn has served – until Llewelyn captures William de Braose, and Joan falls in love, risking everything, including Caitlyn, to fulfill her desire.
Caitlyn, meanwhile, has her own cross to bear in the form of the gallant and reckless Hugh of Pembroke…

Review: This is my favorite book of the series, although I enjoyed all three of them immensely. I've gone back and forth in my feelings toward Caitlyn, but I truly came to love her in this one. However, I think my favorite character in this book was Blod, Hugh's druid grandmother. She is feisty and doesn't care what anyone thinks about her. She speaks her mind, which leads to some very entertaining moments.
The romance between Caitlyn and Hugh adds another level to this book, making it a little less supernatural than the first two. Caitlyn is even more determined to break the spell that binds her to Joan and Blod believes she knows the way to do it. If it doesn't work, however, Caitlyn could end up dead, just as she has realized she has something--someone--to live for.
As with the other two books in the series, the historical element of this one makes it that much more fascinating to read.
