Title: The Adventures of Billy Bog Brush: The Lost Boy
Author: Ian Campbell & Tim Constable
Release Date: 15th August 2019
Genre: Picture Book
Page Count: 40
Publisher: Clink Street Publishing

Summary: While Billy is out for a walk, he comes across a lady who is looking rather worried. Offering to help, he discovers that her son hasn’t come home for his tea when he should have. Billy, who knows all the places where the local children go to play, suggests that he could look for him, which leads to an adventure involving various people and places in his home town, Flushington! In this intriguing story, Billy once again demonstrates his willingness to help others and work out a way to do something which at first seems beyond him.

Review: First of all, for anyone asking "What's a bog brush?"--in America, we call it a toilet brush. And yes, that's an unusual item to be the main character in a children's book, but if you look past that and concentrate on the content of the story, it's a terrific little book.
The illustrations are large and very attractive, and the text is easy to read. The theme of "I CAN DO THAT!" is repeated throughout the story, which is always a good lesson to teach children. Billy also takes the time to make a plan when he has to accomplish something, breaking it down into small steps, which is another good lesson for youngsters.
At the end of the story, there are several activity pages related to the story, providing more opportunities for adults and children to discuss the events in the story.

The great news is that there’s more to come from Louise. There’s a Giraffe in my Bath has sparked the imagination and led to another children’s book which is currently being written, with more ideas for future books too.

Louise has always had a love of books and still finds time to read all types of fiction. Her favourite authors include; Jodi Taylor, JK Rowling, Maeve Binchy, Katherine Arden, Ben Arronovitch, Jill Mansell and Daphne Du Maurier. Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier is Louise’s favourite book.

BLOG TOUR: Scampy Doodle and the Reindeer by G. J. Barnes @fayerogersuk @authoright @scampyd #ScampyDoodle

Scampy-Doodle-and-the-Reindeer
BOOK INFORMATION
Title: Scampy Doodle and the Reindeer

Author: G J Barnes
Illustrator: Chris Sorensen
Release Date: 4th December 2017
Genre: Picture Book
Page Count: 24
Publisher: Clink Street Publishing

Synopsis: Scampy Doodle is a happy go lucky black dog who has a strong nose for adventure.
It's Christmas Eve and Scampy Doodle is fast asleep when he is woken by a strange noise coming from the chimney. Discover what happens when he goes to investigate and gets the greatest surprise of his life!

Review: This is an adorable Christmas story. Scampy Doodle is a lovable dog who helps his best friend Jemima (a human) get ready for Christmas. After they decorate and set out treats for Santa, it's time to sleep. Scampy Doodle wakes up in the middle of the night when he hears a strange noise. Father Christmas and the reindeer are having some issues, so Scampy Doodle tries to help them out. You'll have to read the book to see how it all turns out.

This story has a wonderful lesson about helping others and being selfless. Some of the customs described in the book will be unfamiliar to children in the US, but they are accurate for other parts of the world. It might be a good opportunity to learn about Christmas customs in other countries.

If you're looking for a new book to add to your Christmas traditions, Scampy Doodle and the Reindeer would be an excellent choice!

About the author
Georgina-Chapman As my daughter got older we used to (and still do) tell each other stories in the car about our family dog Scamp. Scamp had been neglected as a puppy and was rescued by my parents and became our family pet.

He was a little bit crazy (he used to try and get up on the table to lick up crumbs after a meal) but he was always happy to see you and always there for a cuddle whenever anyone needed one.

In many ways he was more like a human being, standing up on his back legs, drinking cups of tea out of a cup off the coffee table.

So I decided to write some of our stories down to share with others, the first one being Scampy Doodle and the Reindeer.

As the daughter of a librarian, Tela Kayne grew up reading countless literary works of all genres in quiet corners of the local library. She developed the love of writing at an early age, penning theatrical productions that were performed in the family living room for an audience of loved ones. She officially began her creative career as a young actress in Atlanta, having appeared on stage in a variety of roles including Puck of Midsummer Night’s Dream and Alice in Alice in Wonderland.
After graduating college Summa Cum Laude from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and working a short stint in the “real world,” she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film. After securing her Screen Actor’s Guild membership through appearances on television shows like G vs E, The Parkers and Get Real as well as films like Down to You, Almost Famous, and Disney’s The Kid, she decided to garner more behind-the-camera experience. She secured internships at Scott Rudin Productions, one of Hollywood’s most prolific and demanding producers and Mostow Lieberman Productions (U-571) at Universal Studios. She soon accepted a paid position with executive producer Chris Sievernich and discovered her love of screenplay development, running the coverage department for Kinowelt USA and assisting in the development of projects like Nurse Betty, The Wedding Planner and Welcome to Collinwood. After several years of working in Hollywood, she returned home to Atlanta in 2001 to focus on a career in strategic marketing.

THE ADVENTURES OF MITEE MITE by David John

We are thrilled to be hosting David John, author of the children's book series, The Adventures of Mitee Mite! David will be traveling the blogosphere with Pump Up Your Book January 2 - February 28. Leave a comment below to let him know you stopped by!

Title: THE ADVENTURES OF MITEE MITE SERIES
Author: David John
Publisher: Mitee Mite
Pages: 120 pages total in series
Genre: Children’s Picture Book

BOOK BLURB:
Building on a desire to teach children about time, shapes, measurements, and money, author David John created THE ADVENTURES OF MITEE MITE series. In the same way that many of us learned our ABCs, the book and app (available on Google Play and iTunes) collection helps young readers learn how many seconds are in a minute, the number of sides different shapes contain, and more, using a catchy tune that captures their attention and motivates learning.
Focusing on children from age 3 to 11 years old, THE ADVENTURES OF MITEE MITE book and app series offers its readers a dynamic female superhero, Mitee Mite, as their guide through the often tricky terrain involved with mastering time, shapes, measurements, and money. In her matching red cape and boots, Mitee Mite, accompanied by her alarm clock sidekick, Terry the Ticker, activates her superpowers by using her manners, respecting others, and accurately answering questions in the games she encounters during her adventures.

The five books in THE ADVENTURES OF MITEE MITE book and app series include The Time Frame Game and The Time Frame Game Advanced, which break down seconds, minutes, hours, days, months, and years to teach readers the fundamentals of time. The Measuring Game explores the components of feet, yards, and miles, as well as cups, pints, quarts, and gallons. Mitee Mite teaches kids about currency in The Money Game and dives into a colorful world of triangles, squares, hexagons, and more in The Shape Game. The companion song for this series (available at www.miteemite.com) helps kinds absorb the skills in an enjoyable and interactive way.

The idea for THE ADVENTURES OF MITEE MITE book and app series came about when David was faced with a dire challenge. “One day as I was babysitting my friends’ children, and not having any idea what to do, I made up fun games to help them learn,” David revealed. The goal of the series is to expose children to a variety of lessons in a manner that is fun, relatable, and memorable. David says, “Mitee Mite was created to help give children a head start on the basics of time, measurements, shapes, and money.”
David’s daughter, whom he calls his “Little Mite,” is the inspiration for the main character and the themes of the series. David’s desire to teach his daughter the basic skills featured in THE ADVENTURES OF MITEE MITE book and app series has expanded into the goal of sharing these lessons with other children through his “You Buy, They Read” program. “We plan to give away one book for every one bought to kids in need.” In addition, David will donate $1 for every $2 of the gross sales of apps to teachers “who are going into their own pockets to buy supplies.”

Review:   Positively love these little books. They are great for teaching young children. There is a question on one page, with several possible answers, and then the answer is given on the following page. Each page contains vibrant illustrations to hold a child's attention.  I'm always on the lookout for books that are educational, to share with my grandchildren, and this series is wonderful for them.
