BOOK TOUR AND GIVEAWAY: His Secret Life by Kim Cano

Gay men don’t fall in love with women. Do they?

Philip is a gay man working for a conservative corporation. After his recent promotion, he needs a date for a company function and asks his sister’s new roommate, Emily.

Emily is an actress, waiting tables while starring in local plays and hoping for her big break. She agrees to be Philip’s date for the party, and soon they are attending one event after another together.

Philip and Emily click on many levels. Lines blur as the people they pretend to be start feeling like the people they are, causing a rift with Philip’s boyfriend Jason.

When Philip no longer works for the company, he doesn’t need Emily to play the role of his girlfriend anymore, but to his surprise, he can’t let her go.

Review: I was fascinated by the synopsis of this book, and thrilled to be able to read and review it. I have read one other book by this author, as well, which was fabulous. So I definitely had high hopes for this book.

I was not disappointed by it, for sure. The plot is unique and told in a very compassionate way. We are privy to both main characters inner struggles with the situation, and with their emotions. The author writes them so authentically and realistically that you can't help but feel connected to them.

I'm not usually a fan of romance stories, but this one is a remarkable exception. It shows that love is love, regardless of gender or any other labels people try to put on it. Open-minded readers will devour every word of this beautiful story.

**I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.**

BOOK TOUR: eighty and out, by Kim Cano

Traumatized by visits to the nursing home to see their elderly aunt, Louise and her sister Jeannie made a youthful pact to not live past age eighty. Was it a silly childhood idea, or were they wise beyond their years? Most importantly, will they go through with it when the time comes?

Eighty and Out Editorial Review: “An emotionally-charged women’s fiction novel about the bond between sisters, friendship, and fate, Eighty and Out will have you deliberating your destiny.” ~ Bestselling author Deborah Brown

Available to buy from....

My Review:  I LOVE this book! The story of the lives of Louise and Jeannie, along with Lou's best friend Bernice, is so emotional and honest.  We get to see the good and the bad, and we're always wondering whether or not it will end with the sisters carrying out their pact.
I found myself wanting to lecture the girls at times on their decisions. There are secrets and lies, and their lives are touched by racism, war, riots and feminism along with all the "normal" life events: love, marriage, babies, death, divorce.

This is one of the best women's fiction stories I've read in a long while. I would recommend it to all my female friends.

My Rating: Five stars
