  • Series: VeggieTales
  • Board book: 24 pages

  • ISBN-13: 978-0824919900

Synopsis: In this festive VeggieTales book, the Veggies are celebrating Christmas—decorating the tree, singing carols, and exchanging gifts. But in the middle of all the activity—though it’s so much fun to give and receive presents—the Veggies all know that the greatest gift of all was God’s gift of Jesus, his Son. Children will love the colorful art featuring their favorite Veggie friends. Parents can use this book to introduce little ones to Jesus’ birth as the reason we rejoice at Christmastime.

Review: This is a wonderful board book for Christmas.  All the Veggies are celebrating, doing things that most children will relate to as they enjoy looking at the brightly colored illustrations.
The last four pages of the book turn toward the real meaning of Christmas, beginning with the lines "But the best Christmas gift wasn't wrapped with a bow or paper or ribbon--it came long ago." Then it goes on to discuss the birth of Jesus, and that He is the gift that gives us the most joy.
The book is very sturdy and designed to last through the wear and tear of young readers. I plan to share my copy with my infant grandson during this Christmas season, and hopefully for many Christmases to come.

Baby Baby! written by Diane Stortz, illustrated by Aillie Busby #BabyBaby #flyby

photo 67_zpsl9v8wks2.jpg When I was given the opportunity to review this book, I was very excited to be able to share it with this little guy--my newest grandson, Lucian, born September 19th.  He can't quite focus on it yet, but when he can I am sure he will enjoy it!

Now, let's talk about the book itself.

ABOUT THE BOOK “BABY, BABY”

A sweet, colorful board book that appeals to a baby’s interest in looking at other babies
Babies enjoy books, looking at other babies, and their own flowering abilities. This short rhyming poem combines all three in a sweet and happy way, while introducing babies to God’s love for them. The simple words are paired with colorful images of babies engaging in familiar activities, allowing the book to be used as an introductory concept book as well. And it ends with a reminder that Baby is always loved by God.
REVIEW: This is an adorable little board book.  The illustrations and the text explore all the things that babies do and enjoy...giggles, wiggles, waves, bounces, claps, etc.  Each page contains a baby doing the activity mentioned in the text (which is in short, rhyming phrases), and is colorfully done.

The last page contains a large rectangular mirror and reminds the child that they are loved by God. It even has a space where you can write in their name to personalize that fact.

The rhyme and rhythm of the text keeps babies interested and the pictures will keep them engaged (I envision having them mimic the activity shown as they get older). It is also a book that will be easy to read on their own as they progress to that stage of life.

I very highly recommend this adorable and durable book for anyone with babies or young children in their life.

Review: This is an adorable little board book! I haven't seen the first two books in the series, but I am definitely going to be looking for them to add them to my grandchildren's library.

The bear family in this series, as you can tell from the cover, is not a typical one where all the bears look the same. That makes this a great book for adoptive families, as well as for traditional families, as it also looks at how the cubs vary in personality traits. The main theme of the story is that all three cubs are loved unconditionally by their parents and grandparents, as well as by one another.

The illustrations are adorable and not too "busy," with just enough detail to show what the text is saying. Each page contains a scripture verse that relates to the action on that page as well.

The fact that it's a very durable board book makes it a good choice for toddlers, and it should last long enough for them to grow into reading it on their own as well.
